THE HEALTH BENEFITS OF MAIZE

     Maize is a most popular cereals which are favourite to all aged people in the whole world. Maize is popularly known as 'Corn'. It is most commonly consumed as roasted with a few drop of lemon juice and some salt. It is one of the most healthy snack because it provide low calorie. So it is mostly preferable to the health conscious persons. Apart from the weight-loss activity, maize also contains an essential health beneficial nutrients which is important for healthy body.
     Maize consists of corn seeds of cob of the evergreen plant known as Zea mays which belongs to the family poaceae. Corn seeds are known as maize kernel.
Corn benefits
  • Maize help to improve digestion. Maize consists of high level of dietary fiber which are responsible for prevention of indigestion. It help to increase the bulk amount in bile to make it heavy;thus help to move down through the intestine and reduce the constipation. It's active constituent named haemorrhoid help to reduce the risk of colon cancer.
  • Corn kernel is rich in some minerals. The yellow tiny kernel consists of high quantity of magnesium, copper, iron. It is also rich in phosphorus which is important element to provide the strength in bone health. Those help to promote the normal activities in kidney.  
  • Corn consists of rich amount of vitamin B and folic acid compound. They help to treat the anemia which is caused by lowering the iron level in blood and reduce the amount of red blood corpuscles. 
  • Maize contains high level of antioxidants vitamin C,carotenoids and flavonoids which help to control the cholesterol level in bloodstream. The two types of cholesterol are to be produced in the liver.First one is low density liprotein named as bad cholesterol and later one is high density lipoprotein known as good cholesterol. The antioxidants are found to minimize the bad cholesterol level which leads to serious heart problems and help to increase the essential good cholesterol level in blood,important for the healthy heart. They also promote the blood flow through the arteries.
  • Corn seeds contain fixed oil which is rich in linoleic acid. So, it can prevent the skin from several rashes, pimples, various inflammations, irritations.
