    Tomato is one of the important fruit which is packed with anti-oxidants. It is popular known as love apple. But you still can not believe if I told you tomato was known as toxic fruit in very ancient time because of creating diarrhoea or several stomach problem. But tomatoes in many studies have been found to be attached with a several health benefits.

   Tomato consists of red coloured also yellow, purple coloured fruit of the plant known as Solanum lycopersicum and belongs to the family of Solanaceae.
    Tomato is well-known good source of lycopene antioxidant. It also contains vitamin A,vitamin C and vitamin E and flavonoids in sufficient quantity. Such minerals has been found here. Water is present in high volume in tomatoes help to provide the refreshment.
  • Tomato has the protective action against several cancer especially prostate cancer. It also help to prevent the development of the growth of carcinogens in case of lung and stomach cancer. An active constituent known lycopene which is responsible for its anti-carcinogenic effect. It is more effective in cooked form than in raw form. Because in cooking process lycopene is completely released from the skin of the tomato. It is completely fat soluble. So, it is to be cooked with some quantity of olive oil to consume for its well absorption in the body.

  • Tomato helps to prevent the blood clot in vessels or thrombosis. Tomato also contains vitamin C and vitamin E which are well known anti-oxidant to help to reduce the DNA damage to protect against several diseases like diabetes and atherosclerosis. The fruit help to minimize the TNF-alpha level in blood serum; thus prevent heart problems, alzheimer's disease.
