BLACK PEPPER-THE HEALTH BENEFITS

    Black pepper is popularly known spice used worldwide. It is generally used as spice due to its pungent taste. Also black pepper is scientifically approved as a herbal drug because of having many health benefits.
     Black pepper consists of the dried ripe fruit of perennial climbing plant known as Piper nigrum that belongs to the family of Piperaceae.

      The fruit contains an alkaloid piperine of about 5-9%, volatile oil, pungent resin, piperidine and starch. The volatile oil consists of l-phellandrene and caryophyllene.
  • The black pepper fruits are aromatic, stimulant, stomachic and carminative. It helps to prevent the uncomfortable feelings during digestive problems.
