THE BENEFITS OF ISABGOL HUSK

    In the ancient time the isabgol husk was used in the treatment of constipation. And now it is also most preferable herbal medicine for constipation to almost adult people in world wide. Apart from the treatment of constipation, it also help to provide the essential health benefits.

Isabgol husk benefits
     Isabgol consists of dried seed and husk of the plant known as Plantago ovata and belongs to the family of Plantaginaceae. Isabgol husk and seed contain mucilage that is present in the epidermis of the seeds. It consists of pentosan, aldobionic acid and several product by hydrolysis i.e. xylose, arabinose, galacturonic acid and rhamnose. The seed also contains the protein and fixed oil. The husk is also named as psyllium husk.
  • The isabgol seeds and husk are used as demulcent laxative, emollient and in the treatment of chronic constipation, amoebic and bacillary dysentery. The mucilage content of isabgol husk is used in the production of tablets. The seeds are used in sometime as poultice in case of rheumatic pain. The mucilage has good glairiness or stringiness property. So, it can be used in the formulation of various cosmetic products.
  • The husk help remove away the constipation by increasing the bulk content in stool; thus helps speed up the movement of bile throughout the intestine. It also help in raising water  in the stool. so, the stool become softer and easy to come out. To treat constipation just take 2-3 spoonful of isabgol husk with a glass of water.
  • It is also used to control the high density lipoprotein level in blood serum. The psullium husk is found to treat the diabetes. It help to put the optimum level of insulin in blood; thus promote normal sugar content in blood.
